Wanting to impress the importance of sustainability, Albertsons announced that it was purchasing 10 all-electric Tesla semi-tractors for its Southern California operations.
According to the Albertson’s press release, the new electric trucks will be able to travel 300 to 500 miles to the charge – even when fully loaded. The company has a total fleet of about 1,400 trucks which all are certified under the EPA’s SmartWay certification program.
It will be interesting to see how the economics of the Tesla semis will unfold and to the extent Albertson’s entire fleet makes a changeover.
