Apple Park – World’s Most Distinctive Corporate Headquarters Now Open

To distance around Apple’s new corporate headquarters in Cupertino, California, is 1 mile. It is the world’s largest office building that has a look and feel like a space ship. While some employees have been in the facility since last fall, final construction was not completed until a few weeks ago.

Planning and construction of the office building started in 2006. Here are some of the basic facts:

  1. The building is the feat of construction companies from over 19 countries
  2. The main building has 2.8 million square feet and houses over 12,000 employees
  3. Total cost around $5 billion
  4. The campus has seven (7) cafes, the largest being able to seat 3,000 people
  5. There is a 1,000 seat auditorium and a 100,000 square foot fitness center
  6. About 80 percent of the total campus is made up of green space
  7. The roof is made of solar cells – 17 megawatts – which can power 75 percent of the facility
