Big Oil – Helping Car Manufacturers Go Electric?

Shell is partnering with Daimler (Mercedes Benz) BMW, Ford and Volkswagen to install fast-charging stations throughout Europe. Plans are to install 80 or more superchargers along highways in Europe by 2019 and 400 by the end of 2020. Shell reports that electric car growth could displace almost 800,000 barrels of oil a day by 2025. In an historic unveiling, Tesla introduced their new fully electric Semi-Truck and their new fully electric Roadster. Specs on the Semi-Truck: Zero to 60 in 5 seconds. It is 20 seconds when pulling a trailer at max 80,000 lbs. The fully loaded semi can do 60 mph up a 5 percent grade (regular semis can only do 45 mph).
