Good Food is on the Way

Touch the Soil News #1147 (Feature photo Sustainable Food Chain – USDA) The good food purchasing program was developed by the Los Angeles Food Policy Council in 2012. Shortly thereafter, the program was adopted by the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District. Now, around 750,000 meals a day are served the city and the schools. Estimates now run that it would take 1.5 Earths to sustain present-day consumption patterns. Out of this information the day is determined every year when the world “overshoots” its bio-capacity and runs on an ecological deficit the remainder of the year.
