Not too long ago, sales of electric cars barely made the news. For the first three months of 2022, there were 851,000 new registration for plug-in electric cars and 832,000 registrations of plug-less hybrids. These two categories of electric cars represented almost 30 percent of the global car market.
As electrification grows, traditional automakers will have to share the wealth with new electric car start-ups. Take Tesla, for example. Nasdaq reports that Tesla is now valued at almost $900 billion, compared to Toyota’s $282 billion. Electrification will migrate into public transport, heavy equipment and farm equipment.
