Touch the Soil News #967 (Feature photo – courtesy of Farmers Cut)
German indoor farming startup – Farmers Cut – has invented what it calls dryponics. When growing leafy greens, the roots are maintained in a dry condition. Yes, there is still a minute amount of water used, but much less. The dryer roots allow the plant to be picked – roots and all – and delivered to the customer.
The dryer roots means less algae development on the roots. It allows for harvest on demand.
