Farmland – A Hedge against Inflation

One of the companies we like to follow is Gladstone Land. Gladstone is a Wall Street company that buys and owns farmland on behalf of its investors. The company presently owns 164 farms in 15 states valued at approximately $1.5 billion. Of interest is a recent news release on how well farmland is holding up as a hedge against inflation. In short the national CPI was up 8.6% for the year and farmland values were up 9.7%. There are lots of interesting details and you can read the press release here:
