Food Diversity – A Food Tremor of Epic Proportions?

There was a film made a few years ago called the Future of Food (http://thefutureoffood.com/) that revealed how the few dozen varieties of apples eaten today is the sign of failure from the 6,000 to 7,000 varieties of apples that used to be used in early American history.

Recently the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations sounded an alarm over the dramatic loss in food diversity due to a variety of chemical and encroachment activities by humans. The FAO recommends that we now eat local, buy seasonal and diversify your diet.

Other activities may include food gardening with heirloom variety seeds and farm animals.
