Food Recalls – 2017 is Not Immune

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration finds January of 2017 a busy month. Following are some of the food recalls of the last 30 days:

 

  1. Pictsweet Breaded Okra is being recalled for possible glass fragment contamination.
  2. Blue Ridge Beef’s raw dog and cat food is being recalled for Listeria monocylogenes.
  3. HY-Vee candy trays are being recalled for possible salmonella poisoning.
  4. Hostess Brands is recalling its Holiday White Peppermint Twinkies for possible salmonella poisoning.
  5. Palmer Brands is recalling chocolate coated candy for possible salmonella poisoning.
  6. Dutch Valley Foods’ Capuccino Snack Mix is being recalled for possible salmonella poisoning.
  7. Mikesell’s Nacho Cheese’s Tortilla Chips are being recalled for possible salmonella poisoning.
  8. Treehouse Foods’ Macaroni and Cheese Cups are being recalled for possible salmonella poisoning.
  9. Nine Lives pet food is recalling canned cat food for low levels of thiamine contamination.
  10. American Roland Food Corp is recalling Manzanilla olives stuffed with anchovies for the presence of micro-organisms.
  11. In addition to all of the above, the FDA recalled 16 other products for undeclared allergens.
