The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) reports that January 2020 saw another uptick in global food prices. Th index in January 2019 was 163.9 and it rose to 182.5 in January of 2020 – an increase of 11.3 percent.
For perspective, the food price index was 229.9 in 2011, and had been slowly decreasing till 2019 The uptick in food prices starting last year is the most pronounced in the last 9 years. You can read the full story here:
