The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a division of the United Nation’s and it tracks global food prices through its Food Price Index. The food price index follows commodity prices on meat, dairy, grains, vegetable oils and sugar. For industrial nations which have most of the price of food is from processing, value added and marketing.

The Food Price Index dropped from an historic high of 159.7 in March of 2022 to a low of 132.4 in December 2022. This drop is almost counter-intuitive given the global circumstances of conflict and inflation over the past year.
