One of the emerging gauges of transportation, environmental and economic success is high speed trains. Railway Technology reports that according to the International Union of Railways, trains generate up to ten times less CO2 that airplanes.
In areas where high-speed rail is available, 80 percent of people choose to travel by rail on journeys of less than 2.5 hours. Most high speed trains in the world are either in Europe, China or Japan.
