The Food and Agriculture Organization, a division of the United Nations, keeps track of global food prices by following five major food categories.  Those categories include meat, dairy, cereals (grains), vegetable oils and sugar.  The Food Price Index hit a high of 158.1 in May of 2022.  The index is anchored in the 100 point range from 2014-2016.  Recently May 2023 numbers have come in and the Food Price Index is now 124.3, more than 20 percent less than a year ago.  You can read the full story here: https://www.fao.org/worldfoodsituation/foodpricesindex/en/
