The United Nations projects that earth will have to feed another 2.3 billion people by 2050. That’s roughly 80 million more people each year for the next 29 years – roughly 220,000 more people each day. Currently the world’s population stands at 7.9 billion.
NASA is researching how to grow more food indoors near cities, using less resources. To assist in the process, NASA is working with one of the most advanced indoor farming companies at this time, called Plenty Unlimited, Inc. NASA will leverage off of their expertise to develop food growing practices in space.
