New Atlas journalist Michael Irving brings us the story of a large pumice raft – a large flotilla of light pumice rock from and underwater volcano. Covering an area of 58 square miles, the pumice flotilla is headed to Australia and the Great Barrier Reef and should reach there in about 7 months.
Scientists believe this natural material will help re-build and help save the Great Barrier Reef. You can read the full story here: https://newatlas.com/environment/gigantic-pumice-raft-drifting-towards-australia/
