Next week, Nissan and co-developer DeNA begin actual testing of what is called the Easy Ride. The Easy Ride is actually a robo taxi that is unmanned, takes voice commands in all languages and has the ability to take you anywhere upon your command.
The robo car is complete with a dedicated remote monitoring center. So while there is no “taxi” driver in the car, the car is being monitored all the time.
Nissan plans to roll out the service in the early 2020s. The foray by Nissan into this field of mobility is heightening the competition with giants like Uber and Lyft.
