North Korea – 10 Million People Face Imminent Food Shortages

While the news on North Korea is generally about potential armed conflict and weapons, North Korea is facing a food crisis. While trying to wave military threats to the United States, the North Korean nation is facing one if its worst food harvests.

Assessments by the World Food Programme estimate that 10 million people in North Korea (almost 40 percent of the nation’s population) are on the edge of starvation. It appears that the cost of military build-up is done in part at the risk of starving part of the nation.
