Rallying the Community Around Urban Agriculture – Eastie Farms

The Christian Science Monitor brings us a story that has many elements of a different economy. Cooperative, close to home, sensitive to price and access. While on the surface it appears like a feel-good story, there is perhaps more to the story. Over the years, many grocery stores have left less prosperous neighborhoods. Now, with higher prices, they are challenged to meet the needs of the neighborhoods they are in. Is there a larger economic message here that historical financial/economic models can reach into the economy far enough, leaving people to re-invent economics that work?
