Value Walk news portal brings us the story of how non-profit urban farming development is taking on new dimensions. Atlanta, Georgia is at the heart of a metropolitan area of some 6.7 million people. The Food Well Alliance and the Atlanta Regional Commission are working together to create a new City Agriculture Plan.

Helping spur the initiative is a $250,000 USDA grant to finance the effort. Regional food awareness is a concept that may be more important than national agricultural plans. Regional food awareness is a new kind of safety net for food security that is long overdue. You can read the story here:
