Sikkim is the smallest state in India, but still has a population of around 650,000 people. In 2003 it banned the import of all pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers and GMOs. As a result, wildlife has returned, crop yields have improved, and tourists are flocking to the tiny Himalayan state.
