Thailand – When Food Must Come from a Local Source

Thailand, a nation of over 70 million people, and a national history that goes back 800 years, is facing extensive hunger. It is no surprise that the solution that Thai people are pursuing is not buying food from the global market, or large scale industrial agriculture. Their approach is to start growing food in an around cities and homes. Local and regional food growers, might think about their marketing to add food security as a service in addition to buying local.

The Bangkok Post, a major news publication in Thailand, reports how urban farming is becoming a key to food security. While the U.S. certainly eats from higher up the food chain, is there value in considering eating from the actual source of food – the urban garden.
