InsideEVs just came out with its September 2018 report on sales of new cars able to run partially or totally on battery-electric power in the U.S

It is hard to believe that automakers in the U.S. now have 42 different models of cars available to the public that run partially or totally on battery electric power. For September 2108, car sales in this category reached a stunning 44,589. For September 2017, car sales in this category were only 21,242.

Why would car sales in this category be up over 100 percent from a year ago? No other car segment had growth anywhere near this number.
