Farmland Grab brings us the latest on the Toshka project in Egypt. The project has lined canals to stop seepage and receives a large amount of Egypt’s fresh water resources. Started in 1997, the project has languished but ultimately is achieving some success in raising food in the desert.
The crtical issue with the project is water, which is not assured in the long run. Will this project make a difference in food security or will ceaseless expansion of population make it a mute issue? You can read the larger report here:
