New Flyer of America just delivered the first of five electric buses to TriMet – the Portland, Oregon bus system. This came just before Bernie Sanders (2020 presidential hopeful) went public about moving totally away from fossil fuels.
Electric buses energized with local renewable energy is akin to the movement to grow and buy local food. This is a first for the Portland, Oregon metro area of some 2.5 million people.
Oregon, while not as popular as California, has worked hard to express its own kind of individualism. With over 40 percent of the world’s people now living in nations with sunsets on fossil fuel cars, Portland, Oregon just got put on the map with similar sentiments.
