Western Australia – Taking Farmers Out of the Farming Landscape

When asset managers team up with pension funds, the sky is the limit. Recently one of the largest farm sales took place in Western Australia. A 54,812 acre farm was purchased for $97.62 million by Daybreak cropping. Daybreak cropping is a partnership between Warakirri Asset Management and Canada’s Public Sector Pension Investment Board. In short, it is not farmers that own and work the farm, but asset managers, their employees, and the pension funds that put up the money.
