Rhode Island – Sues Gas and Oil Companies for Climate-Change Damages

Rhode Island, with a population of little over 1 million people is the smallest state in the nation. However, this small state is going big time in suing 23 oil companies for damages the state has endured from climate change.

CleanTechnica journalist Steve Hanley brings the story of how big oil companies don’t want to stand trial at the state level as they feel their chances of beating the claims are better in Federal Court. However, a federal judge recently ruled in favor of letting Rhode Island sue the 23 oil companies. I’m sure we haven’t heard the last of this. You can read more of the story here:
