The Great Green Wall – Largest Climate Change Initiative Ever

With millions of people living on the edge of environmental austerity and drought, the continent of Africa is undertaking a massive initiative to plant trees and sustainable vegetation along thousands of miles of desert. The initiative is called the Great Green Wall.
The Great Green Wall initiative seeks to upgrade 2 billion acres of land around the edges of the Sahara Desert – presently home to almost 250 million people. The plan calls for upgrading 25 million acres a year with trees and sustainable vegetation.
The initiative is designed to mitigate the effects of natural resources degradation and drought. You can read more about the project here:
