America’s Largest Farm Lobbying Organization Meets in Salt Lake City, Utah

American Farm Bureau just had its 105th annual convention in Salt Lake City.   Established in 1909, the organization has affiliate organizations in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.   With an annual budget of around $2 million, the organization has a broad spectrum of interests and objectives to cover.   At the convention, Zippy Duvall, President of the American Farm Bureau, said the biggest problem facing agriculture is the lack of labor.

One of the primary focuses of the American Farm Bureau is government assistance in bringing in foreign workers at an affordable rate for farmers and boosting farm crop subsidies.  Claiming two million farms as members, they are all striving to make financial ends meet.  Interesting is the even the Farm Bureau, has been taking interest in urban agriculture.  You can read the story by Successful Farming news written by journalist Chuck Abbott here:
