The Manila Bulletin reports efforts underway to accelerate the proliferation of urban food in Manila, a city in the heart of a metro area of almost 20 million people.
The reason for the increasing attention to local and urban food stems from several reasons – ongoing global population growth, kinks in the supply chains, urbanization, and a global rise in the cost of food of almost 40 percent over the past year, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
