Should the Nation Embrace Public Housing?

Curbed journalist Jeff Andrews brings us news on the unfolding debate over affordable housing and homelessness. Public housing is when a government entity – federal or more local – owns and operates the housing project. At present, there are over 1 million public housing units in the United States.

Now, efforts at new legislation propose building out 8.5 million housing units and spending $172 billion. Still far less when compared to the defense budget of around $700 billion.
