The Availability and Cost of Housing

In the old days, many so-called poor had a farm and 40 acres, maybe 160 acres. Trying to earn a living farming has mostly proved futile as most family farmers have been economically removed from their land. Today, having a farm and 40 acres can be a path to wealth.

Now, just getting into an apartment can be a big thing, not to mention owning a home with some yard surrounding it. While we’ve visited the topic before, affordable housing continues to ratchet up in the political debates. As such, we thought to visit a recent article by Patrick Sisson of Curbed.

While the cost of housing is at the heart of the debate, are the real issues much deeper to include less than abundant resources, less than abundant capital and less than abundant jobs with a living wage? You can read the full story here:
