The Food Price Index – published the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome – reports that food prices have jumped dramatically on a global basis in 2019. The index stood at 161.5 in December of 2018 and rose to 181.7 in December of 2019. That equates to a rise in global food prices of 12.5 percent in one year.
